RICORDANDO SHAMMI KAPOOR


Il 14 agosto 2011 si apre con una notizia amara. Sono trascorse solo poche ore, ma già tutte le star del firmamento indiano stanno sommergendo la rete di messaggi in seguito alla scomparsa della superstar degli anni Sessanta, il grande Shammi Kapoor.
Con la morte di Shammi si chiude un capitolo intero della storia del cinema, così come avvenne nel 1988 quando ci lasciò Raj Kapoor. Tutti coloro che hanno amato i suoi film, ma ancora di più la sua personalità, oggi non possono che provare una profonda tristezza. Poco meno di un anno fa ho avuto la straordinaria fortuna di incontrarlo, e sono rimasta colpita dalla sua incredibile umiltà. Ricordo la sua commozione nell'udire un pubblico di giovani intonare le canzoni dei suoi lavori. L'attore ha ringraziato e guardato negli occhi ciascuno di noi. Uno sguardo così tenero che non potrò mai dimenticare. 
I suoi titoli sono classici evergreen che trasmettono allegria e voglia di vivere, storie amabili che conquistano al primo fotogramma. Fra i maggiori successi:  JUNGLEE, KASHMIR KI KALI, TUMSA NAHIN DEKHA, BLUFFMASTER, AN EVENING IN PARIS, BRAHMACHARI, CHINATOWN, SINGAPORE, PRINCE, TEESRI MANZIL, RAJKUMAR, BUDTAMEEZ, TUMSE ACCHA KAUN HAI.
Allegro, imbronciato, romantico, simpatico, burlone, energico ballerino dalle movenze pazze e imprevedibili, item boy, rockstar, Shammi è stato e rimarrà l'icona della giovinezza, il grido di rivolta contro il vecchio sistema, la ribellione all'ipocrisia, e la ricerca di una propria nuova identità, selvaggia, euforica, libera di esprimersi senza timori.

Today is a very sad day. He will always live in our hearts. Love you sir.
